While Antonio Vivaldi’s music was revived and adored in the 20th century, there were other Venetian composers of his period who wrote very lovely music who still remain in his shadow. Associazione Culturale Musica Venezia will present a series of concerts at the capella of Chiesa SS. Geremia e Lucia in June that will show the beauty and virtuosity not only of Vivaldi’s music, but also that of B. Marcello, B. Galuppi, and T. Albinoni.
There will also be a recitation of excerpts from Marcello’s delightful “Il teatro alla Moda”, a satire on opera performance in Venice in this period, narrated in Italian and in English.
